    Great website! Thanks!

I’m curious, how long does it take to remove bumper? Thanks.

I cannot get the front bumper removal thumb to expand. I can get the other How To Guide to do so.
Is it possible for you to email the procedure to me?
    Thanks so much.

The picture will not enlarge, this image and some others return a server error when you click on the box. If possible please would send me a printable image.

    Many Thanks.. Ray

I just took the bumper off this afternoon and
It’s relatively easy if you take your time.

I couldn’t find a video on the 170 from YouTube
    But did find the 171.

On the 171, you have to remove the lower
venting and and access the two screws for
removal where on the 170 you access
    Them from behind the grille.

The only tricky part is learning how to access
the bolt behind the turn signal.

Start with the pods in front of each wheel,
    And the rest is easy.

If you’re intent on getting it off fast it can
    done in under an hour.

I was slow and wanted to look at other
things as I went along and it probably
    took me 2 hours.

Having just done mine everything is very easy and straightforward – except for the 2 cross member nuts marked No 4 on the diagram. Without those the job would take 15 – 20 min to remove with uncorroded fixings.

On a hoist they would take a couple of minutes each after dropping the engine compartment floor pan but working on the garage floor without the car raised they are extremely difficult to remove as access is very limited and you cant see them whilst trying to get a spanner on them. I’m sure MB could have made them front fixing if they’d really wanted to! Took me about 1/2 hour each.

Do you think the job would have been much easier if you drove the front of the car up on a pair of rams to elevate?
